Gandhi. Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi. New Delhi: Publications Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India, 1969. Print.
I got this book from the library. Told from Gandhi's POV. Gave me many ideas from his POV. It was also a very reliable source, because of it being an autobiography. Gave information about his thoughts and his POV. It enhanced my knowledge in the Background section as well, giving an overview of the Background. I feel that this was a source that I could count on, and it also had information on POV, as stated earlier. "Notes from the Cuban Exile Quarter: Gandhi, the 1930 Salt March & Two Letters to a Friend." Notes from the Cuban Exile Quarter: Gandhi, the 1930 Salt March & Two Letters to a Friend. N.p., n.d. Web. 16 Feb. 2015. I found many of letters to the Viceroy on this that were from Gandhi discussing the events. This source helped me because It helped me support many of the notes that were featured. I was struggling with finding letters from the Viceroy, because the only ones that I found when I first started looking for letters, were the ones from March 2. This source gave descriptions on their plans and also featured letters that the Viceroy and Gandhi were sending back and forth to each other. "The Salt March--Gandhi's and My Own | SGI Quarterly." The Salt March--Gandhi's and My Own | SGI Quarterly. N.p., n.d. Web. 29 Jan. 2015. Not having much info for build up, this gave a lot of meaningful quotes and pictures of Gandhi and the Satyagraha. Quotes are an important part in my project because they can prove a whole bunch of points, just in a sentence or two. I believe that quotes have really helped me lower my word count etc. "Satyagraha Movement of M.K. Gandhi." Satyagraha Movement of M.K. Gandhi. N.p., n.d. Web. 17 Dec. 2014. This site was my "go-to" website for quotes and rare pictures of the march. It consisted of several quotes on what MK Gandhi had said throughout his journey in the march. Sarojini Naidu's quote was from this website and really showed the importance of the Salt march from it. Sarojini Naidu was an imortant person during that decade and also the March, and this source really helped me have a deeper look into her actions during the March and the Dharasana Saltworks Satyagraha. "United Press International - Centennial Anniversary: 1907 - 2007." United Press International - Centennial Anniversary: 1907 - 2007. N.p., n.d. Web. 17 Dec. 2014. It was pretty rare to find British POV on salt taxes and the march, but I finally found one. This site had written information on why the British may have refused to give India independence and all that, and also why they had refused to give India independence in 1947, but not earlier. Gandhi. Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi. New Delhi: Publications Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India, 1969. Print. I got this at the library, and had many uses for it because it had many archives. It was obviously a reliable source, because it was an archive. Lots of information was found from this website, knowing that this is a very, very, very trusted source. |

BBC News. BBC, n.d. Web. 17 Dec. 2014.
Such a useful website! Had miles of information on Gandhi's pledge to non-violence. Non-violence impacted India to get independence and this website had lots of information on that. This was one of the few websites that had full information on his beliefs of not using any violence, that gave lots of information. Also is a very reliable and trustable source to research for, helped me throughout my History Day research process, and helped me particularly in the beginning part of my research. "Gandhi And Non-violence." Gandhi And Non-violence. N.p., n.d. Web. 17 Dec. 2014. This website gave me a brief explanation on why Gandhi chose to use no violence. I think that this was a very reliable website to rely on. This was one of the few websites that had full information on his beliefs of not using any violence, that gave lots of information. "Gandhi-Irwin Pact | Indian History." Encyclopedia Britannica Online. Encyclopedia Britannica, n.d. Web. 29 Jan. 2015. There were barely any sources for the "change" part of my project, specifically the "Gandhi-Irwin pact". This website stated many key points of the pact and it also gave a description of what it meant and how it impacted the marches involved. (Dandi March and Dharasana Satyagaraha). "Hitler, NOT Gandhi Was the Reason for the 1947 Indian Independence." Hitler, NOT Gandhi Was the Reason for the 1947 Indian Independence. N.p., n.d. Web. 29 Jan. 2015. Helped me find out more of Britain's POV, although I think that this website was a tad bit bias, although some of the information on this website really got me thinking on a different POV other than India's POV. "India 1900 to 1947." India 1900 to 1947. N.p., n.d. Web. 17 Dec. 2014. This website helped me figure out British's POV, and what reasons they had to not give India their Independence. Also featured a huge timeline of events to choose from. This website also had the most information on the Dharasana Salt Satyagraha "Manas: History and Politics, Dandi Salt March." Manas: History and Politics, Dandi Salt March. N.p., n.d. Web. 18 Dec. 2014. Super helpful! Gave brief Background information on the Salt taxes that were going on in India, and some of the reasons that Gandhi believed on why the British may have not granted Salt taxes at that time. One of the hardest parts in this project was starting off with research, when I first Rosenberg, Jennifer. "Mahatma Gandhi." N.p., n.d. Web. 17 Dec. 2014. I had always wondered about the motivational effects of Gandhi, and why he had always had the motivation to fight for India's independence. This was the website which consisted of how he had gotten motivated and had stated some of the main key parts. "Salt March." History.com. A&E Television Networks, n.d. Web. 15 Dec. 2014. This source was really helpful, it gave me important and reliable background information on Mahatma Gandhi. Also had information on how he was also motivated, and his beliefs in Hindu scriptures, which really had an impact on promoting non-violence. SparkNotes. SparkNotes, n.d. Web. 29 Jan. 2015. Had a timeline which helped me find many key parts with dates of events that happened. This source was really helpful because it gave descriptions of each event that had happened. I could tell that this was very reliable source and it had miles of Information on Gandhi's background. Featured many of his beliefs and his childhood and how he was as a kid. It also had the definition of "Satyagraha" and 'Ahimsa" which was an important part in his beliefs and Non-violence Szczepanski, Kallie. "Gandhi's Salt March." N.p., n.d. Web. 27 Jan. 2015. This source helped me with many parts of the Build-up. Which was one of the hardest parts to research, in my opinion. It gave brief descriptions of the letters that Gandhi was writing to the Viceroy, although it did not have all that many letters that were sent back and forth from the Viceroy and Gandhi. |
