January, 1931 the First Round Table Conference, a conference organized by the British Government was organized in London. Gandhi was still arrested at that time. They discussed consequences in the March, and other reforms. Gandhi got released out of jail, January, 1931. The British were frightened about the consequences of keeping him in jail, so they released Gandhi. Gandhi decided to meet with the Viceroy again, to discuss plans about a pact. Many mass-meetings all over India took place. The Gandhi-Irwin pact was signed on March 5, 1931. It was an agreement that marked the end of period of salt disobedience, and imprisoned many "Satyagrahis" who were in jail, due to the march. Indians were also able to make salt for domestic uses.

Legacy

India earned independence on August 15, 1947, and was no longer under British empire. People believe that the British gave independence to many other countries in that year, because of the loss of economy from WW2. Gandhi got assassinated, January 30, 1948. Gandhi's pledge on Non-violence and his actions have influenced many countries and have led India to independence.
